O’Eclat Designs (pronounced O-eyklah) is a sustainable and ethical Nigerian brand that specializes in crafting premium leather handbags and accessories.
Founded in 2010 by Gbemisola Johnson, O’Eclat Designs was born out of a personal need for a high-quality, perfectly sized, and affordable handbag. Frustrated by the lack of options, she created a brand that combined functionality, timeless design, and sustainability.
Collaborating with skilled artisans in Lagos, Gbemisola crafted handbags using indigenous fabrics like Aso Oke, Adire, and Ankara, paired with premium leather. O’Eclat quickly gained recognition for its unique blend of heritage and modern aesthetics, earning features in Vogue UK, Marie Claire, BellaNaija, and Genevieve Magazine.
The brand’s commitment to ethical production and sustainability has also earned international accolades, including two finalist spots at the INDEPENDENT HANDBAG DESIGNER AWARD for Most Socially Responsible Handbag.
